Photonis Scientific, Inc. in Sturbridge, MA, specializes in the design, development and manufacture of leading-edge detectors and electro-optics for the transport and identification of ions, electrons, UV Photons and Soft X-Rays. As part of our commitment to our customers we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Quality Engineer.
As part of our commitment to our customers we have an opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician in our Sturbridge facility. The primary responsibility of this Engineering Technician will be to assist the manufacturing/process engineers with tasks related to the testing and processing of production material. The position reports the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform test programs; examines and characterizes products
- Verifies yield is within process capabilities
- Product troubleshooting and defect analysis with proposed solutions
- Assembly and testing of detectors
- Support Manufacturing Engineers with engineering test data collection
- Provide training to assembly and test staff
- Develop and implement process improvements
- Support and Encourage understanding and use of the ISO 9001 based Quality Management System
Competencies
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings including blueprint and schematics is a must
- Conceptual understanding of high vacuum chambers
- Fully proficient with Ohms law
- Good soldering skills
- Component level troubleshooting and repair
- Ability to multitask is a must

Education and Experience
- Two-year degree or certificate from a post-secondary technical school with a concentration in electronic theory or electronic technology is required
- 3 – 5 years in a relevant technical internal position
- Experience with oscilloscopes and multi meters is preferred
- Previous experience with High Voltage components is needed
