Job Details
Job Purpose: To conduct inspections/audits in Extrusion department in accordance with established quality plans, and other directives; verify required documentation, gages, charts, and other items are present in Extrusion. Ensure all processes are following established quality guidelines and customer requirements. Support Extrusion team with scrap reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma, 2 3 years experience in machining, fabrication of aluminum components or quality assurance.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages. Good knowledge of manufacturing quality practices and procedures. Knowledge of S.P.C. Good communications and organization skills.
- Skills & Abilities: Strong math skills and ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to learn programming on Vision system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
- Profile Inspection Perform profile inspections on Vision system. Monitor and react to critical features of parts as specified by quality plan, visual inspection for workmanship, audit S.P.C. charts, verify all required gages exist and calibration is current. Maintain neat and orderly records of all processes.
- Disposition material after profile inspection. Communicate non-conforming results to Die Shop and Extrusion for corrective action. Analyze results of control features and make necessary adjustments to process or tooling.
- Overall responsibility of this position is that extruded material meets internal and external customer specifications.
- Assist Extrusion team in the reduction of scrap and in the implementation of lean manufacturing principles.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Extrusion Operations:
- Gather, prepare and process profile samples on Vision System.
- Verify out of print dimensions and disposition with assistance of Engineering.
- Collect statistical data on appropriate profiles.
- File various paperwork as needed for record control.
- Provide support in the preparation of PPAP packages..
- Assist in operating hardness testers.
Training Requirements: New employee orientation, SPC, PPE, Inspection Instructions, Vision system operation and programming , PLEX
Level of Authority: None
Physical Demands: Requires standing or walking a total of 6 hours in an 8 hour day, but no more than 2 hours at any one time; sitting a total of 1-2 hours in an 8 hour day, but no more than 1 hour at any one time; Frequently requires lifting less than 10 lbs, but occasionally may lift 50 lbs or less 3-5 times in a week; Intermittently (5-10% of the day) may need to stoop/bend, crouch, kneel, twist, reach and pull or push.
