SHIFT: 2nd Shift: Mon - Fri 4pm-12am (overtime 12a-2pm), some Saturdays.

JOB SUMMARY

Programs and operate VMC mills (Haas or Mazak) preferably to machine plastics, metal and rubber components.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, setup requirements and production rates.
  • Programs the parts and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as feed, speed, pressure variables and coolant flow
  • Full understanding on how to measure parts to ensure they meet drawing specifications.
  • Requisitions all required tooling such as tool holders, inserts, drills, endmills, etc. that are required to run the job.
  • Once the machine is set up and before production begins, run dry cycle to ensure everything is safe and correct before actual production can start.
  • As discovered, implement new methods of set up, process an manufacturability utilizing the latest technology while ensuring a safe process and a quality product.
  • Report changes to production rates and process changes to Management for routers updates
  • Give production rates for quote purposes as requested within 24 hours of request.
  • Ensure proven program number is input on the router
  • Help to train new operators as needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work area during and at end of shift.

SUPERVISION

  • Works under general instructions and minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have clear understanding of basic math, geometry and trigonometry skills with the ability to understand and calculate angles, diameter, circumference and radius. Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (work orders, safety and operations instructions)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with similar machines and programming

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS

  • Exposure to manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Spends 100% of time in the shop. Standing 90% of time.
  • May be exposed to possible shop hazards including heaving machinery, fumes, dust, heat and high pressure and temperatures.
