CA Pay Range (Annual):
$130,900.00 - $243,100.00At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

Infinera is searching for an individual to work as a Product Engineer within the Optical Modules Group (OMG) on development and introduction of new Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC)-based telecommunication products at the systems level.
Description
Infinera is searching for a qualified candidate to work on new product introduction (NPI) in an exciting Product Engineering role that is focused on Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) technology integration into Datacenter and Telecommunication System Hardware. As the Photonic Systems Product Engineer working in a vertically integrated company, there will be opportunity to help products achieve industry leading performance through engineering optimization end-to-end (from PIC technology through to the coherent DSP). The position provides a rich learning environment that is highly cross-functional with design, test, controls, reliability, and manufacturing and provides for unique leadership opportunities. The ideal candidate has strong Optical Engineering background and enjoys a multi-disciplinary environment working to drive product solutions into place. The position is within the Optical Modules Group (OMG) department and is based in Sunnyvale, Ca.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that photonic integrated circuit performance requirements are met at the system level
- Interact with design, test, controls, reliability, and manufacturing to define calibration methods and performance screens
- Perform statistical data analysis on large data sets to characterize and improve the product
- Support quality analysis and evaluation of development, proto, and pilot units
- Drive improvements in product quality during pilot ramp
Position Requirements
- M.S. degree + 8 years experience or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (electronics, electro-optics), Materials Science, Photonics, or Physics (optics, semiconductors) + 5 years experience in photonic integration
- Experience with III-V or related optoelectronic device physics and design. Working knowledge of device fabrication, materials, and epi is desirable.
- Working knowledge of optical and coherent signal test methods
- Aptitude to work with a large body of data, perform statistical analysis, and present data and ideas to a diverse audience
- Team oriented with ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
