Rail Analyst
PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Rail Analyst to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
The position will support the rail operations group in monitoring, managing, and creating invoices for detention charges per commodity group and follow through till payment. This will include liaison with the customer care group in generating and distributing the invoices and with the scheduling group in case of exception handling. This position will follow through till the end to ensure that every month the invoices are sent, approved, and paid. This position will also help in contract management for terminal, freight transportation, storage, and rail car lease agreements. This position will coordinate with the accounting team on the month-end process and analyze various rail costs for increasing efficiencies and reducing redundancies.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares reports and presents findings to internal stakeholders
Managing and monitoring detention, demurrage, and accessorial charges
Monitoring, maintaining, and managing customer accounts for detention billing
Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to resolve past due detention revenue and assist with collections
Provide recommendations to contracts and/or pricing mechanism regarding opportunities to decrease demurrage costs and increase detention revenue
Review and pass for payment vendor invoices:
Transloading and Thruput Invoices
Railcar Storage
Demurrage
Detention
Inspection Fees
Other Misc. invoices
Coordinate Month-end accruals with PBF Accounting
Analyze and assist in rail cost analysis
Review, coordinate and document rail related contracts
Other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Business
5 plus years’ experience in oil & gas or chemical industry
5 plus years in a role with proven problem solving skills - proven strong analytical, accounting, and problem solving skills to accurately interpret data
Must have strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
Must have high degree of organizational skills
Must be detail-orientated
Must possess strong analytical abilities
High degree of initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to multi-task, meeting multiple and competing priorities
Highly Proficient with Microsoft Excel is a must
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Must have basic accounting knowledge
Prior experience in billing/invoicing highly preferred
Ability to travel - 15%
