SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This Safety Coordinator will have general responsibility of supporting the prevention and reduction of harmful situations to ensure workplace safety. They will be responsible for the administration of the corporate safety program within the job site/area. This position will set an example for safety behavior in accordance with company safety culture. They will assist in the identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, and training requirements.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Administers the 6S Program with the ability to train, enter data, and provide data charts.
- Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability according to company standards and operating budget.
- Maintains current awareness of applicable federal, state, and local health, industrial hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Accompanies visiting inspectors and reports findings.
- Administers the plant hazard communication program, including maintaining up to date SDS's, effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory, and related training and education programs.
- Accumulates, prepares, and enters health, industrial hygiene, medical, and safety data.
- Analyzes data and prepares standard and other requested reports for plant and regional management.
- Conducts safety meetings and provides safety orientation to employees.
- Ensures all safety required trainings are completed and the plant remains in compliance.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- 2-year degree is preferred.
- 2- 4 years' hands-on EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Demonstrated experience in changing a safety culture.
- Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and must have a critical eye for inspections.
- Works well in team environment.
- Works independently and is results oriented.
- Ability to do basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to hold difficult conversations.
