Procurement Associate

The Procurement Associate is responsible for summarizing reports and assisting in daily document review. This position will cover PTO on various shifts, during which data entry and communication with livestock haulers will be required. This position will also be expected to learn various positions in the barn, shadow supervisors, and assist as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Manage inventories and delivery schedules for all loads of market hogs.
- Assist with data entry and verify accuracy of the data and records in the HPE system.
- Aid in the timely generation and distribution of all reports from the HPE system.
- Support the Procurement Supervisor in hog schedule modifications and distribution.
- Coordinate barn and office supply inventory as directed by the procurement supervisor.
Activities Related to procurement:
- Coordinate and confirm delivery schedules with producers to ensure timely arrival & inventory needs.
- Assist in ensuring that STF is in compliance with all applicable regulations, including USDA Mandatory Price Reporting, and GIPSA.
- Track and confirm HPA volumes and contracts are maintained physically and in AS400.
- Oversee the clerical positions, check in process, and communication of pertinent information.
- Assist in developing livestock receiving policies and procedures.
Activities Related to main barn operations:
- Perform internal audits to verify compliance with policies and procedures
- Execute NSIS and main barn tasks as needed.
- Support staging, understand policies and procedures around normal operations as well as contingent plans (ie electric stun).
- Communicate with USDA in day to day operations, IE Anti-mortem inspection.
- Identify and assist with slow hogs as well as the resale of non-qualifying market hogs.
Activities Related to Stockyards Receiving
- Ensure compliance with Seaboard Triumph Foods policies and procedures for maintaining the proper Animal Handling and environment in the livestock barn.
- Confirm all safety policies and expectations are being upheld.
- Reviewing Bill of Lading, counting and tattooing hogs as they are unloaded from the trailers, audit trucks and trailers to ensure proper bedding and boarding requirements are met, audit repair of equipment and confirming head count with Driver.
- Generally supporting the Barn team in their responsibilities, and performing miscellaneous duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university preferred; or (4) four or more years related experience in pork procurement or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position, including supervisory experience. Well-developed management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a team of employees.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with Hog Suppliers Truckers and other industry personnel as well as with USDA Mandatory Pricing team.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers with the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available with a focus on Microsoft and AS 400 applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management.
65% of the time will be in the Livestock office managing data entry and preparing reports.
15% of the time meeting and working with Barns to insure we are lock step and sensitive to their needs.
15% of the time will focus on developing process improvements.
5% of the time focused on enriching STF`s culture as well as community enrichment.
