Will maintain all labeling systems in the plant. Will help maintain all scaling systems. Will help maintain all metal detectors and X-rays. Will help manage and maintain the inventory system in Carlisle. Will maintain all computer related equipment associated with the Carlisle and different control systems.  You will also trouble shoot computer problems, monitoring computer processing systems, installing software, and performing tests on computer equipment and programs throughout the facility from welfare to production areas.  This position will perform necessary repairs and project maintenance on all standalone and plant wide control systems. This will include a general knowledge of pneumatics, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical. The IT Technician will help Maintenance and the PLC programmer diagnosing and troubleshooting all PLC control systems. This will include but not limited to RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE, FactoryTalk ME, Ignition, Wonderware and Siemens controls. Will also need knowledge of VFD’s.  Will maintain the security groups and updates on all plant floor equipment. This may also include cutting and welding if directed by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Document, test and modify office and plant software systems including Microsoft Server and workstation OS platforms, Microsoft Exchange, MS Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL, VMWare, Antivirus, WSUS, Solar Winds, Citrix, Carlisle, Rockwell and Wonderware. 
  • Will help build reports and charts in Ignition to meet production or management needs.
  • Will maintain all computers, application and SQL servers and users associated with the Ignition system.
  • Will maintain all computers, application and SQL servers and users associated with the Carlisle system.
  • Will maintain all computers, application and SQL servers and users associated with the Pyramid system.
  • Will maintain all computers, servers and users and equipment associated with the Avigilon camera system.
  • Will maintain all computers associated with plant floor controls.
  • Will maintain all computers, servers and users associated with the Bartender labeling system.
  • Will help maintain all computers, servers and users associated with the Avigilon door system.
  • Will maintain all security requirements on the Automated equipment.
  • Will pull communication cables to equipment.
  • Will maintain all plant labeling systems. (Bellmark, Sato, Datamax, Code Pack, Bizerba) Including label design software.
  • Will maintain all computers, servers and users and equipment associated with the Auto-Fom system.
  • Will maintain all trolley vision systems in the plant.
  • Help maintain the WMS system. (Our Cooler Sortation System) And all associated database connections.
  • Provides technical guidance to help support production throughput, efficiency, cost reduction and safety improvements.
  • Assist with scheduling, preparation, installation, service parts inventory and maintenance of technical equipment beyond the scope of ordinary maintenance team members.
  • Assist with the development of controls systems and procedures.
  • Works with engineering team to document and standardize process improvements.
  • Provides technical support to existing equipment.
  • Assist with the collection and storage of all control parameter settings for plant equipment.
  • Assist with the development of upgrade plans for obsolescent equipment controls.
  • Improves existing control packages to become more reliable and production/maintenance friendly.
  • Troubleshoots both hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Electrical diagrams and any other documentation for all production equipment.
  • Ability to communicate well with members of the maintenance and engineering team.
  • Ability to perform electrical installations and repair using 480V to 24V.
  • Will also support the Office IT team when needed.
  • Will help maintain the plant network infrastructure by maintaining all equipment associated with the IDF’S and the MDF.
  • Document, test and modify configurations of the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), routers, switches and controllers or related networking equipment.
  • Document, test, and modify configurations of Server and SAN, NAS equipment hardware.
  • Analyze local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Identify the causes of networking problem, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Will also be required to run a aerial lift.

 

 

Will also be required to preform and follow all scale tech job functions listed below when needed.

  • To preform your required tasks on the company’s state certified pay scales you will be required to be pass the Weights and Measures Registered service exam for the state of Iowa. (Company will pay for license) Will also follow all guidelines stated in NIST Handbook 44.
  • Will also be required to maintain all certified weights in the plant.
  • Will help maintain all weigh price labeling systems in the plant both manual and automated.
  • Will preform periodic scale checks, preform preventive maintenance, and repair equipment while keeping track of job assignments.
  • Will also be required to operate related testing equipment. Scale simulator, Multimeter
  • Will also be required to operate a fork truck or a walkie to preform scale repairs and calibrations.
  • This position will perform necessary repairs and maintenance on plant wide Scaling systems including bench, combo and motion scales, Metal Detectors and X-ray systems. To preform these tasks, you will require a general knowledge of pneumatics, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical. This may also include cutting and welding and basic metal fabrication if directed by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma with course work in skilled crafts preferred, or three (3) years of experience using mechanical or other related skills; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.    

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees using plant systems.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, standard operating procedures, operating and maintenance instructions.  Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production and management personnel. Bilingual skills a plus.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.  Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility.  The employee is required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions. During construction phase, will be exposed to all outdoor elements and dust and odors typically associated with building construction.  Will frequently work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:  The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.  May be required to work some weekends and be part of an on-call rotation.
