Summary: Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support for manufacturing equipment and processes in the Custom Ball and Packaging Center facilities. Support engineering projects that improve efficiency, safety, quality, reliability, or support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a key engineering role that works directly with all departments within operations i.e., Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Inventory Control, and IT.
Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on mechanical support for machines and systems for all facets in Custom manufacturing and Packaging Center facilities. Troubleshoot new and existing equipment.
- Contribute to the mechanical design of production machines, and integration of multiple machines into automated manufacturing cells. Provide design, installation, maintenance, and safety documentation for new machinery and systems. Work with external resources to assist in implementing engineering projects.
- Maintain mechanical systems. Evaluate new and existing equipment to identify areas of opportunities to decrease risk exposure based on hardware availability. Contribute to contingency plans for high-risk areas. Recommend spare parts and replacement components.
- Support manufacturing engineering group in continuous improvement initiatives and the installation and startup of new and improved equipment and processes as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering course of study is required.
- Experience in a technical engineering role in a hands-on environment. Exposure to Machine/Mechanical design, Machine troubleshooting, Fabrication, Machine shop, CNC, 3D printing, Materials selection, Wiring and electrical concepts. PLC programming (understanding schematics, logic & I/O).
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment, including being able to interact with equipment. Travel between local facilities, vendors, and training sites is expected. Must be able to be present in the manufacturing environment on a regular basis for extended periods of time and is therefore, subject to normal exposures to dust, heat, chemicals, and noise present in a manufacturing environment.
- SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency. Strong skill in communication and ability to convey understanding of complex information. Good interpersonal behaviors and detail orientation.
