Job Summary:

The Vice President - Reporting & Accounting Policy leads external reporting, technical accounting, and SOX functions for a global, publicly traded company. This role prepares and files all financial SEC reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations, researching, and implementing new accounting standards and policies, and providing guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders on accounting and reporting matters. This role also oversees management’s overall assessment of company SOX compliance and all internal controls over financial reporting and coordinates with external auditors, legal counsel, and regulators.

                                                                                                    

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and files all SEC reports, including 10-K, 10-Q, certain 8-K, and other filings including capital markets transaction related items such as S-3 and S-4, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Works closely with global accounting consolidation team members and other Corporate Accounting members of the CAO team supporting quarterly close.
  • Creates quarterly and other ad hoc board materials including those for the audit committee meeting.
  • Assists Investor Relations team by providing materials and support for the creation of quarterly earnings call materials.
  • Ensures compliance with all GAAP and SEC rules and regulations,
  • Monitors, interprets, and communicates changes and developments in accounting and reporting standards.
  • Presents company accounting policy and positions with appropriate support including technical memos and presentations to CAO, senior management, and external auditors.
  • Provides guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders on accounting and reporting matters, including business units, senior management, Business Services Center teams, Investor Relations, Legal and Treasury.
  • Manage relationships with internal auditors and as applicable SOX assessment support.
  • Oversee the internal controls over financial reporting and ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the reporting process and systems while maintaining SOX compliance.
  • Coordinates with external auditors and manage the audit and review process.
  • Provides support to Treasury and Legal teams for capital markets transactions including auditor comfort letters, investor/creditor presentations, capitalization tables, offering memorandums, SEC filings and other items as well as debt covenant compliance.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and integrity.
  • Coaches team members with a focus on career development.
  • Performs ad hoc projects and analyses as assigned by the CAO or senior management.

Job Qualifications

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA certification.
  • Advance degree and experience in a big four accounting firm preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in accounting and reporting, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and strong technical accounting and research skills.
  • Expert knowledge in SOX compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and SEC filing software. Experience with Workday and Workiva a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
