WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Motor Tech Lead plays a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the activities of the motor shop team. Leveraging strong technical knowledge, this role involves overseeing the assembly and inspection of drilling motors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing operational efficiency. The Motor Tech Lead not only contributes hands-on skills but also provides guidance to team members, fosters a culture of safety, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the organization. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

•  Coordinate the shipment, purchase orders, and procurement of rework components with vendors, ensuring all necessary components for daily production are organized
•  Organize the schedule for motor builds, disassemblies, makeup/breakout machine operations, and daily service for shop lift trucks
•  Ensure accurate data entry of assembly/disassembly processes into the BiMiner system and create/verify outbound documents within BiMiner
•  Troubleshoot issues with assembly/disassembly of tools, oversee the cleaning of the shop area, and coordinate proper disposal of trash receptacles, while also notifying the DM of needed shop repairs
•  Conduct safety reviews, corrections, and monitor third-party vendors for BICO safety compliance
•  Assist the Shop Manager with cross-training and educating shop personnel
•  Advise on inventory shortages for scheduled tool builds and the adequacy of gases, paint, thread protectors, and torque loc for upcoming service
•  Coordinate all rotors needing re-chrome, rework, or stub weld with vendors and ensure the transfer of all stators for relining to HTD
•  Perform weekly and monthly service of shop lift trucks and review equipment calibration, notifying the shop manager of certification expiring within 30 days
•  Conduct monthly reviews of individual shop personnel's progress or issues with the supervisor to maintain service quality and efficient production of tools

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

•  High school diploma or GED
•  Minimum 3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing setting required.  
•  Ability to work in a team-oriented, high-pressured, and fast-paced environment.
•  Ability to comprehend production requirements.
•  Ability to speak, read, and write the English language fluently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•  Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds 
•  Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, copier/printer/scanner 
•  Standing for long periods of time, between 8-12 hours a day 
•  Walk/travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), which at a minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots and a hardhat
