What you'll do...

Position: Manager, Automation Engineering

Location: 165 Dascomb Road, Suite 200, Andover, MA 01810

Duties: Lead hardware sustaining engineering activities for Structure and I/O and schedule tasking of team members. Design mechanical and mechatronics customer automation systems for integration into customer facilities. Organize and prioritize improvement projects that support Walmart’s automation system performance. Rapidly respond to site downtime alerts to ensure that safety, performance, and uptime goals are met. Manage supplier deviations and non-conformances to optimize product costs and manufacturability. Coordinate responses to site build personnel when unplanned issues arise via the RFI process. Work with multi-interdisciplinary teams (e.g., electrical, systems, safety) to assist critical fixes that support the site. Conduct and participate in design meetings and reviews, machine debugs, power-ups, and machine validation and testing with the appropriate functional teams on a regular basis. Create and manage highly detailed and functional 3D models and detail drawings of the automation system. Optimize designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments using CAD tools. Manage subsystems and component-level design requirements through cross-functional collaboration. Create and manage highly detailed and functional 3D CAD models and drawings using ASME Y14.5. Responsible for the creation, development, and release of component and system specifications and documentation, including ECO creation for releasing all product documentation to the PLM system. Be responsible for the creation of component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods. Engage with team members on a periodic basis to establish credibility and analyze their project needs. Supervise three (3) employees (3 Automation Engineer(s)).

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area; OR Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field.

Skills required: Demonstrated knowledge of sensors, motors, and mechanical systems used in the Robotics Industry. Experience in 3D CAD Modelling using PTC CREO and PTC ProE. Experience with problem solving using 8D methodology. Experience reading mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings. Experience developing and releasing part and system specifications in PLM. Experience creating technical documents and instructions to assemble and test complex assemblies. Experience with specifications, detailed designs, qualifications, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Experience identifying and resolving issues by working with multi-disciplinary teams while commissioning and installing new sites. Experience presenting to executive level management and customers on program status, recommendations, and priorities during commissioning.
