Miraclon, is looking for a Research and Development Chemist or a Polymer Scientist to join our R&D group at the Oakdale, Minnesota site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to enhance our R&D efforts for the development of innovative new products and product extensions to support our continued rapid growth in digital Flexographic printing plate products and solutions.

Job Responsibilities:
- Engage in creative collaborative work with other R&D team members to design and study formulations and coatings for Flexographic printing plate applications that will lead to innovative new products or significant differentiation to competitive products.
- Perform lab scale performance evaluation to simulate customer problems.
- Prepare and review technical documents with peers, development teams and management.
- Actively maintain up-to-date knowledge of patents and other publications relating to the area of expertise and product applications of interest.
- Protect innovative ideas with submission of new patent applications in collaboration with other co-workers and IP counsel.
- Take technical team leadership role for development projects and represent R&D to the larger commercialization team.
- Develop in-depth understanding of our product and solution offerings, strengths, and key technical challenges.
- Engage with external partners for new product development projects as needed.
- Support manufacturing trials for new product development as needed.
- Provide support for continuous improvement projects.
Education, Skills & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Polymer Science with 0-10 years of experience is a requirement.
- Aptitude to solve difficult problems.
- Ability to work with teams while making significant individual technical contributions.
- Experience in chemical formulations for product applications is desirable.
- Knowledge of Structure/Property relationship for polymers and other materials is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in photopolymers is desirable.
- Exposure to Imaging Science for printing applications is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and management skills is a plus.
