As a member of the IT department, the Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for monitoring and supporting the company’s computer and network systems. This individual ensures that hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related equipment are functioning at all times. This role provides the day to day, hands-on technical support required for the continued, uninterrupted operation of the corporate infrastructure. The Network and Systems Administrator provides technical assistance and guidance to end-users and IT staff when applicable, but is also expected to work independently on projects and to be capable of high-level problem solving and resolution.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 / per annum + bonus (depending on experience)
Shift Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or as needed
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Position Type: In-office full time
Core Responsibilities:
Systems Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and applications.
- Perform regular system monitoring, reviewing server event logs and proactively addressing issues, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and systems.
- Manage, monitor and implement best practices for data backups including improving and implementing BCP planning for Disaster Recovery scenarios.
- Manage and monitor VMware environments.
- Manage and monitor Storage Area Networks.
- Create administrative scripts, manage users and security groups, manage the Windows domain including DNS, DHCP, group policy.
- Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
Network Administration:
- Monitor and manage the organization’s network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN’s, UPS’s, wireless access points
- Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency)
- Ensure network security by configuring firewall policies and network ACL’s
- Manage vendor relationships while implementing IT projects in line with organizational objectives
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Works autonomously.
- Ability to work on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
- Technical expertise in network administration.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Proactive approach to system maintenance and upgrades.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Knowledge of scripting and programming for process automation.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery, security, backup, and restore plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A 4-year bachelor's degree within Information Systems or Technology preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience
- Extensive knowledge of systems administration, network security practices, risk analysis, and incident investigation
