Job Description: Maintenance Technician

Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various handyman tasks and ensuring that equipment is maintained in an energy-efficient and safe manner. This role includes conducting inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on facility mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other installed systems. The Maintenance Technician must possess a strong focus on operating, maintaining, and repairing facility equipment across multiple craft areas. This is a site-based role that requires compliance with safety procedures and vaccination requirements specified by the client.

Essential Functions:

Maintenance:

  • Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
  • Maintain and operate HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior, and related grounds, as well as production equipment.
  • Familiarize oneself with various equipment and methods required for everyday activities, including building automation systems and fire/life safety systems.
  • Perform assigned facility inspections and report on conditions that may impact client occupancy and operations.

Safety:

  • Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
  • Comply with safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and identify and propose methods to eliminate safety hazards.
  • Adhere to state, county, or city ordinances, codes, and laws related to safety.
  • Complete all required safety trainings as scheduled.

Administrative:

  • Submit P-card receipts daily.
  • Update work order status in real-time and utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed.
  • Escalate problems or issues to the customer and manager in a timely manner.
  • Attend work and safety meetings as required.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building maintenance, with a strong background in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, or other craft skills preferred.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Universal CFC recovery certification preferred (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Third-party certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel (preferred).

Physical Work Requirements/Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Work at heights and climb, bend, lift, kneel, stoop, and work overhead frequently.
  • Work in adverse conditions, such as extreme cold or heat.
  • Drive for long periods of time.
  • Climb ladders with weight limits and heights up to 30 feet.
  • Travel within 100 miles to Schneider Electric facilities as directed by the manager.

On-Call:

  • Must be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.
