Connect Housing Blocks is currently searching for a full-time Safety Manager to join their team in Columbus, Ohio.  We are revolutionizing the housing industry, manufacturing multi-story, prefabricated modular apartment housing in Columbus, Ohio, by providing high-quality affordable housing. The Safety Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of environmental, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 7:30 AM – 4 PM
  • On site everyday

The right candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety in a manufacturing environment required
  • OSHA training experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental health, or similar is required
  • OSHA 30 certification for General Industry required
  • OSHA 501 certification, Certified Safety Professional certification and First Aid/CPR/AED preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles and operate motorized equipment and machines
  • Ability to detect mechanical issues and process defects from short and long distances to determine what action needs to be taken
  • Ability to regularly move and push up to 50 pounds, occasionally move or push up to 100 pounds

Our Safety Manager will:

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and permits under OSHA.
  • Reports, records, and tracks near-miss incidents including developing, implementing, and recording corrective action
  • Manages multiple projects by determining project urgency in a practical way and creates detailed action plans
  • Performs accident investigations and prepares accident reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Provides and oversees new hire safety orientation and training for employees. Conducts training courses as needed, such as Lifting Techniques, Ladder Safety, Hand and Power Tools, Hazard Communication, Scaffolding, Forklift and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) training
  • Responsible for creation and distribution of relevant weekly safety talks
  • Works with plant leadership team to implement changes that increase performance in all environmental health and safety areas
  • Identifies measures and indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
  • Performs all required compliance audits, communicates gaps, and develops and implements deficiency plans
  • Conducts inspections in plant facility to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determines corrective or preventative measures
