Quality Control Specialist

POSITION PURPOSE:
· Perform compliance, raw material and finished product testing on various product streams
· Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot related laboratory equipment
· Work with Laboratory Supervisor to develop, implement, and maintain a laboratory training program.
· Liaison with R&D to transfer new methods and testing protocols to Quality Control Lab.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Must promote safety in the operation of the laboratory.
· Must use the proper protective equipment at all times.
· Must perform various housekeeping and other tasks to ensure the safety of the laboratory.
· Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including GC, GC-MS, HPLC, GPC, and FTIR.
· Perform daily solvent and monomer testing.
· Performs various physical and chemical testing on in process and finished product samples in a timely manner.
· Post results of testing into LIMS precisely and accurately and in a timely manner.
· Become knowledgeable in the manufacture, testing, and application of SBR, PBR, rubber.
· Comply with EH&S guidelines for the laboratory setting.
· Write maintenance notifications, hot work permits, and fire watch authorizations when appropriate.
· Coordinate outside maintenance and supervise while they are working at plant site.
· Track laboratory supply inventory and order when necessary.
· Maintain working knowledge of Lims/SAP to assist when required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a science curriculum
Related Experience: 5-10 years minimum experience in related field including at least 2 years working with and maintaining GC’s and GPC’s. Also, at least 1-2 years of training others is desired.
