WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will do the material planning for their assigned items in the supply chain. This function is responsible for and manages these activities: purchasing, materials planning (Kan-Ban & PFEP), supplier relationship, coordinates with the Engineering Dept., Quality Dept, as well as various production and assembly departments as needed for their assigned items. This position requires a higher level of experience and negotiation ability.
- Plan and execute procurement of a variety of production materials both raw and finished goods as assigned by the department manager. Assignments may include (but are not limited to): MRO, tooling, shop supplies, production stock and VMI material. Responsible for issuing PO's and WO's as needed.
- Monitor factors such as lead-times, quality, costs, source availability, etc. to identify and eliminate procurement and material planning problems.
- Pro-actively report product and material availability issues to appropriate departments and management.
- Maintain strong working relationships and communications directly with suppliers confirming their open orders are scheduled to meet our company's on-time delivery requirements.
- Maintains strong working relationships and communications with other departments (internal customers), and resolves supply chain problems that arise.
- Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
- Coordinates the planning per production schedules and inventory requirements for the assigned products consistent with the Kan-Ban parameters or per requisitions.
- Operates computer interfacing with inventory programs and spreadsheets, inputting and retrieving data as needed.
- Coordinates and maintains Kan-Ban and PFEP systems in conjunction with the PFEP coordinator.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

- Ongoing identification of technical problems and the development of sound, carefully thought-out solutions.

- Performs other duties as assigned. May be requested to train an entry level Buyer/Planner I or II.
- Travels Domestically and Internationally as needed.
YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS
- Bachelor Degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of related education and experience in a manufacturing environment may be substituted.
- A combination of preferred fields of study: Business Administration, Management, Supply Chain, or other related degree program.
- 6+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Formally trained in the principles and methodology of Lean Enterprise.
- Capable of creating change across functional and departmental boundaries.
- Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
- Able to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of inventory control systems (6 years).
- Working knowledge of MSOffice, with demonstrable Excel skills.
- 3 years of procuring commodities or items directly related to our company's supply chain.
- Ability to lead the department in the absence of the Department Manager.
- Has strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain concepts and application through formal training.
- CPM or CPIM/CSCP certification or certification in progress strongly desired.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
