Cherokee Strategic Solutions LLC is seeking an Asbestos Inspector to work in our rapidly growing Environmental Division. This position will work on a variety of environmental compliance projects and will be responsible at a minimum for conducting asbestos and lead sampling, monitoring, and inspections. This position may also require collecting water and soil samples related to environmental compliance or remediation projects, as needed. Prospective candidates should have strong knowledge of EPA, AHERA, and OSHA regulations, field experience to include environmental sampling, including asbestos/lead inspection and monitoring.

Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Asbestos Inspector: $60,000 - $75,000
Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Asbestos Inspector Responsibilities Include:
The candidate selected for this position must be adaptable to varying work environments and possess strong technical writing and organizational skills.
- Responsibilities include:
- Conduct the sampling of regulated building materials, including indoor air quality studies and industrial workplace evaluations;
- Conduct sampling of water and soil samples for environmental compliance evaluations and remediation projects;
- Coordinate projects with Project Manager, other staff, subcontractors, etc.;
- Perform various fieldwork tasks, such as obtain sample media, collect relevant data and submit samples for laboratory analysis, observe field conditions and document events; and
- Prepare project-related paperwork and documentation, such as chain of custody forms, proposals, cost estimates, data tables, and reports.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Asbestos Inspector Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a science-related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of related work experience (preferably in the role of Asbestos Sampling Technician or Inspector.
- EPA/AHERA or board-approved initial accredited inspector training program certificate.
- Current North Carolina State Asbestos Inspector Certification; or able to obtain NC certification within 1-2 years of hire.
- OSHA 24-Hour or 40-Hour HAZWOPER (CFR Part 1910.120) Certification. Training will be provided as needed.
- Experience working at Military installations preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team, as required.
- Ability to travel to project sites within the United States. Overnight travel is expected to be routine (approximately 50%); however, extended travel may be required at times.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
- Must have excellent customer service and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally in writing (to include technical documentation).
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, other applicable database and office automation products, to include Adobe Pro.
