The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) USAF E-7A Program is seeking multiple Hardware Engineering Managers in Tukwila, WA.
The Mission Computing and Hardware Team designs and architects computer hardware systems by buying commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components and defining internal requirements for build of some units. The new Mission Computing Hardware Manager would be responsible for the development of new systems that include but are not limited to Firewalls/ Lan Switches/ Interface Units. The manager would be responsible for the technical team working out the development of new systems including design, integration, procurement, qualification, installation on an airplane, deployment to the customer, and sustaining work.
The new Flight Deck Hardware Manager designs and architects new flight deck systems into existing Boeing Commercial Airplanes Flight Decks. The Flight Deck Hardware Manager would be responsible for the development of new systems that include, but are not limited to, Displays/ Navigational Equipment, Antennas, and other pilot interfaces. The manager would be responsible for the technical team working out the development of new systems including design, integration, procurement, qualification, installation an airplane, deployment to the customer, and sustaining work.
These managers should have a working knowledge of the following:
- Line Replaceable Unit(LRU) Integration
- Server Room Boxes or Flight Deck Avionics experience
- Functional Schematics
- Interface Control Drawings
- Supplier Management
- Qualification of LRU Boxes (DO-160/ MIL-810)
- Qual Set Up
- Qual Failures
- Engineering Unit Member (E-UM) Engagement
- Installation Drawings
- Boeing Airplanes
- Flight Test
These managers will also be responsible to maintain the architecture of the platform/ create new architecture designs (changes), hire new team members, status team progress daily, maintain buy online return in-store (BORIS) Risks, Cost Account Management (CAM) Duties (Cost and Schedule), build relationships with customer counterparts, present and represent the Boeing in front of customers and suppliers, performance management, team moral and moral events, presenting at Technical Review Boards, Chief Engineering Counsels along with additional assigned duties.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
- Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.
- Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
- Manages, develops, and motivates employees.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 10+ years of experience in electrical equipment design and installation.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Server Room Builds/ Design/ Development, including Interface Drawings/ Functional Schematics.
- Flight Deck Avionics Experience.
- Qual Test (MIL-STD-810/ DO-160G).
