Job Description
Fluor Corporation’s Corporate Development Team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Commercial Consulting to join our team. This critical role supports Fluor HQ and Business Lines in proposals and other key commercial activities. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Commercial Consulting and play a pivotal role.1. Commercial Rate Development and Support
•Collaborate with teams, lead initiatives, or provide support in developing and optimizing commercial cost structures and rates to enhance proposal competitiveness, including overhead rates, expense rates, and other financial metrics.
•Maintain and update the rate structures and rates in response to internal cost structure changes and the external competitive environment.
2. Proposal Strategy
•Develop strategic cost rate frameworks for proposals, ensuring alignment with client-specific rate build-up requirements.
•Review and refine commercial wording in proposals as needed.
•Provide commercial input (proposal/contract wording and rates) to ensure full recovery of costs from clients.
3. Client Negotiations & Audit Management
•Strategically engage in sales discussions and negotiations with clients regarding commercial rates and structures.
•Defend against client claims as required.
•Coordinate and manage resolution of all client audits on commercial rates.
•Develop cost defense documents for client cost rate reviews during bid evaluations.
4. Corporate Initiative Participation
•Contribute to corporate development initiatives with strategic commercial insights.
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-four (24) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree (Masters in Business Administration) or global equivalent preferred or equivalent business experience in an Engineering and Construction environment•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience, or relevant experience on the business side of project execution with at least 15 years of experience in a large and complex services organization.
•Strong understanding of Fluor’s cost structures, internal costing, and associated risks.
•High proficiency in SAP, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting on multiple projects simultaneously.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to senior management, internal colleagues, and client representatives.
•Flexibility to work both as a team member in a collaborative setting and as an individual contributor.
•Self-driven, hands-on, with strong intellectual curiosity.
