Job Title: Assistant Manager, Logistics and Customer Partnerships

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Logistics and Customer Partnerships

Location: Westlake Village, CA / Office-Hybrid

The Role

The Assistant Manager will work closely in understanding and managing the day-to-day operations of the Import Logistics team through oversight of workload and performance. This role will help support the team in issue resolution and prioritization of tasks and will help escalate issues to the Sr. Manager. The position will provide opportunities for involvement in various company projects across areas such as Customer Compliance, Domestic Transportation, Distribution, etc. Success in the role requires managing conflicting priorities of various people you support through proper time management, excellent communication, and attention to detail.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • 1. Monitor daily department activities, assessing individual workloads and delegate tasks according to work capacities. Review and approve staff timecards, managing employee schedules to assess and arrange for proper task coverage, and addressing exceptions.
  • 2. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and customers. Coordinate with vendors and transport service providers for best rates and services. Support analysis of possible strategies that ensure efficient shipment routing, timely delivery, and cost-effective logistics operations.
  • 3. Maintain SOPs, working with key process holders, identifying gaps and develop new or upgrade existing documents accordingly. Analyze and provide recommendations for improvement to logistics processes. Monitor KPIs for tracking towards department metrics, assessing validity of performance measurements and assisting in development of new goals.
  • 4. Assist in managing projects or initiatives initiated by senior leadership and represent department interests in cross-functional projects. Coordinate directly with other department leaders to align on expectations, keeping the teams informed of organizational dynamics.

  • Ability to organize and drive consensus with direct reports, superiors, and internal/external partners. Provides clear instructions and creates alignment.
  • Ability to participate in a variety of projects that require data analysis with feedback on results/recommendations to leadership on next steps.
  • Ability to understand the priorities of numerous individuals in the context of the overall team and to prioritize own work accordingly, while maintaining excellent communication with respect to timelines for completing assignments.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • Knowledge of logistics, distribution and supply chain concepts and practices; preferably in US retail environments
  • Three to five years of logistics experience, with demonstrated experience owning processes end to end. Prior supervision or managerial experience a plus. First time managerial candidates will be considered.

$105,000 - $110,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Westlake, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
