The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. 


We are looking for a seasonal General Labor Packing I to provide continuous uninterrupted supply of properly prepared finished goods to be shipped. Will be utilized where deemed necessary and/or where help is needed. This role requires that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Safety and Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations are followed at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with Foreman and Supervisors on assignments and notifies Supervisors and Leads of any issues with plant operations.
  • Performs recasing duties during changeovers and production gaps.
  • Reprocess product back to the line when needed.
  • Relieves other General Labor jobs as necessary.
  • Maintains high level of cleanliness of equipment and surrounding area.

 

Requirements: 

  • Requires 30 days of on-the-job experience as a General Labor 1A. 
  • Requires the ability to add and subtract single digits.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English to perform essential duties.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time in a high temperature industrial processing environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

 

Compensation: 

The hourly union wage is $16, with a 2nd shift differential of $.25 and a 3rd shift differential of $.50, based on experience and qualifications.
