POSITION SUMMARY:

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance department’s day-to-day functions. This role will focus on maintaining and managing the fixed assets and leasing accounting records in compliance with corporate guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, this role supports managing financial reports, accounting records, audit support, account reconciliations, forecasting, budgeting, and all other duties as assigned with excellent analysis skills and knowledge to ensure adherence to all applicable compliance guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Performs professional accounting work and technical analysis to ensure financial integrity and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset and lease database in SAP general ledger in accordance with policy guidelines for multiple companies.
  • Timely processing of asset and lease additions and retirements.
  • Running monthly depreciation and lease expense programs within SAP and related software packages.
  • Analysis of balance sheet and account reconciliation with minimal audit/review adjustments.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports.
  • Monitor, reconcile, and maintain records for CIP. Includes working with the Capital Expenditure team to ensure the timely closing of projects and placing assets into service within the financial database. Must be able to apply GAAP and policy guidelines to differentiate expense from capital items. Lead quarterly capex review meetings.
  • Support budgeting process including but not limited to capital projects, leases, and related depreciation.
  • Prepare schedules/analysis as required for quarterly and annual year-end external/internal audits including preparing source data related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset tax records in the FAS system and preparing related reporting.
  • Travel to operational sites to support audits and other duties. Includes working with field controllers for annual confirmation of assets.
  • All other duties as assigned. Including special projects, bank reconciliations and reconciling mutliple ledgers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated experience with month-end closings for multiple companies.
  • Must be a team player, and work well with others within and outside the accounting department.
  • Ability to multi-task, with excellent organizational and communication skills, and can think "outside the box".
  • Experience working with large system/network.
  • Excellent PC skills with particular emphasis on Excel, SAP, FAS, BEX, etc.
  • Ability to work with large databases.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Will be working primary in an office environment but may need to go in mining environment.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations if needed.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise, and dust.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel up to 20% as determined by manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA degree in accounting, Finance, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree is a plus. CPA preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3 or 7 years of previous work experience in Accounting and Financial Analysis in corporate, division or manufacturing environment.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years of previous experience in Accounting and Financial Analysis in a manufacturing and/or mining environment.
