Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or GED; must possess good math, problem solving, and computer skills.
Must be able to work a rotational shift and work with minimal supervision.
How You Would Contribute
Purpose
Operate plant equipment and carry out specific steps to create, process, and package synthetic elastomers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in operations which includes monitoring, inspecting, and controlling various DCS operations.
- Daily job tasks include monitoring process equipment, reporting equipment breakdowns, leaks, and maintaining equipment in safe operating condition.
- Make routine rounds inspecting equipment and operating conditions.
- Troubleshoot equipment/maintenance problems using procedures and specific training to identify problems and implement corrective actions.
- Document activities through recording of data and other information in plant software systems, on quality records and log sheets.
- Handle hazardous materials utilizing the appropriate precautions and PPE.
- Follow all safety and operating procedures as required- periodic review of the procedures and documentation of training is required via our ISO and learning systems.
- Interface with supervisors and managers via email on various topics related to production.
- Conduct 5S inspections and activities to maintain good housekeeping.
Skills
- Interacts routinely with supervisors, craft persons and other operators through verbal communication (including radio transmission).
- Interprets written communication such as supervisor worksheets, data sheers, and computer tapes which define the status of operations.
- Creates written record (data or narrative) of operating conditions, laboratory results or other meaningful factors using a computer terminal and printer.
- Reads operating procedures, training materials or Company policies as part of the process for obtaining information required to perform the job.
- Plans and organizes work considering maintenance schedule for equipment.
- Responds in a timely manner to alarms, lights, annunciators, and other indications of abnormal operating conditions.
- Opens/closes overhead valves of all sizes using valve handles, chain operating hand wheels, and even pipe wrenches to position valves as needed.
- Enters confined spaces through a manway wearing protective clothing for cleaning and inspection of equipment.
- Cleans, paints, and otherwise cares for equipment using hand tools (including vibrating tools).
- Removes man-heads, blind flanges, inspection plates, etc. using chain falls for lifting access covers too heavy for the employee.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of our facility’s operation and ensures that customers’ (both internal and external) needs are met and adhere to the quality system.
