Summary
As a Systems Integration Engineer 1 at Illumina you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and help create and test genomic analysis tools used in the leading edge of research. You will participate in the development of high quality, robust products through the integration of hardware, software, chemistry, and Assay components. You will participate in designing and executing test plans, optimizing systems product performance, and collaborating across development groups to ensure comprehensive product testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on testing and integration of DNA sequencing and assay platforms including Assay/reagents, hardware, firmware, software, and application components.
- Involve in executing design verification plans, collect data and prepare reports with minimal supervision.
- Leverage analytical techniques and tools to analyze, and interpret data
- Tracking and logging of issues encountered during the development process
- Contribute to investigation of technical problems and suggest creative solutions.
- Work effectively within a cross-functional project team (development, manufacturing, marketing, service, etc.)
- Engaged in the early design of products to represent Systems Integration Knowledge.
- Write and document experimental procedures, protocol, results, and observations accurately and comprehensively.
Minimum Requirements
- Understanding of sequencing systems, Assay platforms, and relevant techniques.
- Experience in the successful wet laboratory setting is highly desired.
- A broad scientific knowledge (Assay, chemistry, Instrumentation, molecular biology, programming, software, etc.)
- Proven ability to develop tools and scripts in scientific programming such as Python and MATLAB is desired.
- Multidisciplinary approach to troubleshooting and problem solving following established methodology.
- Proven skills in managing and analysis of scientific data sets required.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully work across multiple disciplines such as Assay, software, Engineering, and manufacturing highly desired.
- Must be detail oriented and highly motivated.
- Tracks & maintains lab supplies & reagent inventory for projects.
- A desire to be a part of a fast paced, multidisciplinary, and dynamic environment.
- Works effectively in team environment.
- Solid communication and writing skills required.
Experience/Education:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in relevant field ( Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
