Job Summary
The Production Operator collaborates with an assembly team to place empty containers onto conveyor pallets, seal completed products, prepare them for shipment to customers, and may also independently operate container assembly and labeling machinery. They are responsible for conducting quality checks on raw materials, materials in process, and finished goods, adhering to quality assurance documentation procedures, as well as carrying out basic computer tasks to receive raw materials and finished products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate an assembly, labeling, filling or blister machine or any combination alone or as part of a team.
  • Load containers onto pallets via conveyor, handle removal, packaging, and palletization of finished goods.
  • Perform quality control checks on raw materials and finished goods. 
  • Responsible for communicating any concerns related to machinery, material quality, or finished goods.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as maintenance technicians, engineers, and quality control inspectors, to optimize production processes and address any issues that arise. 
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Utilize a hand pallet jack to transport pallets containing raw materials, finished products, compound components, or bulk barrels. 
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks on equipment to keep it in good working condition and prevent breakdowns.
  • Record and track production, usage of raw materials, and work hours using a computer.
  • Uphold a clean and safe work environment.
  • Wear designated personal protection equipment (PPE) as required. 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills and Proficiencies 

  • Capable of receiving guidance and adhering to instructions.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English. 
  • Able to read and follow written work instructions.  
  • Proficient in basic math skills, including counting and utilizing a calculator.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Capable of working individually and collaboratively within a team.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and able to meet fluctuating demands.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends, as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Capable of standing for extended periods, up to 90% of an 8-hour shift. 
  • Able to lift weights of up to 25 lbs. repeatedly, with occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a lab coat, eye protection, ear protection, and hair net. 
  • Exposed to moderate to loud levels of noise.
  • Can tolerate strong odors present in the production facility.
