NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
We are looking for a seasonal Pearson Operator I to be responsible for operation and troubleshooting of Conveyers, Pearson, Moen equipment. Ensures integrity of packed cases. Monitor the empty cases, the body of the bags, position of bags on case, corners of bag to create a quality case ready for stack. This role will be responsible for program recipes in to the equipment to be able to pack a variety of items at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include safety, general sanitation, line productivity, yields documentation and the ability to learn and use the terminology relative to the packaging area and equipment.
- Inspects cases before entering Pearson for possible defects and report any such defects to Manager.
- Ensures the integrity of the box quality, packing arrangement is maintained and that all pouches pass through the metal detector before packing the product.
- Hourly checks to Safeline metal detector (CCP) and ensures its’ proper operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area free of clutter at all times.
Requirements:
- Requires a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), or at least one-year relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English to perform the essential duties.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and a good attendance record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
Compensation:
The hourly union wage is $17.44, with a 2nd shift differential of $.25 and a 3rd shift differential of $.50, based on experience and qualifications.
