Materials Planning Manager

Hybrid role. Candidate must be able to commute to Somerville NJ on a regular basis.

 

Manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times.

 

Internal Interfaces:

  • Engineering interface bringing newly developed products into production processes   
  • Product Management on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet demand.
  • Quality Control to ensure that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions.
  • Accounting to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Shipping/Receiving for proper documentation and inventory control.

 

External Interfaces:

  • Outside suppliers, manufacturers, and assemblers

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
  • Maintain relationships and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
  • Approve the purchase of supplies and materials according to specifications.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and coach staff members
  • Perform various duties as assigned by management in support of production role

Qualifications


BA in Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPIM certification in production and inventory management is helpful.

  • Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in production planning, record keeping and purchasing
  • Ability to organize and supervise large scale Planning and Production activities;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Present ideas clearly orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and ERP/MRP systems
  • Enjoys working with numbers and analyzing data.
