Position Overview
Burner Operator - Level 3 will be responsible for Placing groups of plates into Tiegel machine and Burn groups to battery using a torch. Burner Operator will also perform visual inspections for quality and quantity of all battery types (i.e., broken plates, missing pallets, grid cracks, missing separators, base lumps).
Areas of Focus
Burner Operator will place small parts in tooling and Conduct set-ups and changeovers. Burner Operator will also focus on Complying with all safety requirements & proper use of PPE and focus on understand & practice the Quality policy.
Responsibilities
Mid-Level
• Understand work instructions and where they are posted
• Place small parts in tooling
• Conduct set-ups and changeovers
• Able to distinguish between battery types
• Performs visual inspections for quality and quantity of all battery types (i.e., broken plates, missing pallets, grid cracks, missing separators, base lumps)
• Identifies problems and performs minor adjustments to line functions to correct. Notifies others of more complex problems
• Learn Production Goals for required output and performance
• Be familiar with all tooling and maintain them properly and in proper location
• Report any broken tools to Team Lead/Maintenance or Supervisor
• Follow and maintain Lean activities (the 5S, Housekeeping, hygiene, etc.)
• Maintain assigned tools and toolbox
Experienced
• Can perform all assigned duties of Level II worker
• Understand & practice the Quality policy
• Trains operators in procedures, pacing and speed
• Takes a highly active role in maintaining product quality
• Identifies problems, seeks causes and effects and performs minor adjustments to correct
• Notifies Maintenance of machine/torch problems, makes suggestions for repair or adjustments
• Totally aware of Tiegel machine functionality and capability
• Know production goals for required output and performance standards
• Follow the 5S procedures at all times & actively participate in continuous improvement
• Know the work instructions, where they are posted as well as the quality policy
• Must complete CPI Training (methodology) Assist with training as needed
Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma, GED, or greater required
• Read, write and speak basic English
• Understand specifications and labels associated with hazardous material, charts and graphs
