As a Compression Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating tablet presses and ensuring the highest quality in our production process. Your attention to detail and adherence to cGMP, S.O.P.s, and Master Batch Record Manufacturing Directions will ensure the highest quality in our production process.

About the Role:

As a Compression Operator at MeriCal, you will:

  • Operate tablet presses, including electrical disconnect/lockout, dismantling, and cleaning of various parts such as hoppers, feed frames, die lock screws, dies, punches, punch keyways, grease cups, side covers, and more.
  • Comply with general cGMPs, S.O.P.s, and Master Batch Record Manufacturing Directions.
  • Reassemble tablet presses with all accessory parts, providing necessary lubrication and tooling size as instructed.
  • Perform manual turning of the turret flywheel or use of a jog button to ensure proper setup and avoid binding.
  • Clean and set up tablet de-dusters and metal detector accessories as required.
  • Coordinate and stage loaded, sanitary product hoppers for discharging blends into tablet press hoppers.
  • Make mechanical adjustments to achieve tablet specifications, including weight, thickness, and hardness.
  • Move and place compressed tablet containers as required.
  • Perform in-process checks for weight, thickness, friability, hardness, appearance, disintegration time, and record results on batch records.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Proficient in basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Familiarity with the metric system.
  • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and handle problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to stand for 10 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, digital scales, and wearing a dust respirator is preferred.
  • Understanding of MAS-500 and its application to tasks in the compression department.
  • Ability to use electronic equipment such as the process handgun to digitally record work-in-progress.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/Certificate; or one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
