Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Operations Management Development Division (OMDD) is looking for a self-driven, innovative Analyst to join our organization in supporting Toyota’s North American Operations with continuous improvement efforts. OMDD is the very same department that Taiichi Ohno created to carry out his vision of the world-renowned Toyota Production System (TPS).
There are many opportunities to work jointly with the North American Manufacturing Centers (NAMCs) and suppliers because the kaizen cycle is endless! This role interfaces with top executives at Toyota and project companies in pursuit of a common goal: being better than we were yesterday. If you have a passion for continuous improvement, then we want to hear from you!
The primary responsibility of this role is to work side-by-side with project teams, both internally and externally, to develop their shop floor & TPS capabilities, while simultaneously strengthening your own TPS skills. You will actively practice Genchi Genbutsu, identify gaps for improvement, and lead the activity to meet challenging targets. As your TPS toolbox grows, you will develop logical strategies, meet tight project schedules, and produce results, all while adhering to the basic principles of TPS.
As an OMDD Analyst, you can expect to support company objectives to reduce cost and lead time, specifically by detecting and eliminating waste. This supports our Customer First mentality. You will find productivity improvements throughout the entire supply chain while energetically learning and applying TPS basic thinking and tools. Doing so, you will visualize problems, exercise practical problem-solving, and engage in the kaizen cycle, all in an effort to expand our capability and promote the transfer of knowledge to Toyota’s affiliate and project companies across North America.
What you’ll be doing
Analyze the shop floor through Genchi Genbutsu (Go and See)
Learn and use TPS tools to visualize waste.
Set challenging targets that align with North American cost competitiveness.
Lead activity teams to success by example.
Develop strategies while coordinating, participating in, and eventually leading kaizen activities (jishukens).
Carry out project assignments to achieve targets.
Develop TPS basic thinking and transferring to project teams, participants, etc.
Utilize activity reflection summaries as development opportunities to share TPS with others.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field
Experience working in a direct or support role for manufacturing
Experience implementing Toyota Production System (TPS) or equivalent in a manufacturing environment on the shop floor
Ability and willingness to travel 75%
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Added bonus if you have
Experience utilizing Material and Information Flow Chart (Value Stream Mapping).
Toyota Business Practice (TBP) Completion or equivalent problem solving certification
What we’ll bring
During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. A few highlights include:
A work environment built on teamwork, flexibility, and respect
Professional growth and development programs to help advance your career, as well as tuition reimbursement
