About the Role:
We have an exciting role for someone to join the Mining team at our Willowdale operations. The Pre-Mining Coordinator reports to the Short-Term Planning Superintendent and is responsible for providing detailed planning and technical input to assist in delivering the mine’s annual (budget) and 36-month business plans. This is achieved through the preparation of harvesting and clearing plans that set appropriate safe physical and performance targets that maximise operating efficiencies and quality (mineable ore) outcomes through the provision of best practices in mine services and support of the mine.
This role will be site based on a family friendly Monday through Friday roster (8hrs – days only) and will be responsible for:
Designing clearing areas for the approvals process
Ensure pre-clearing requirements such as Cockatoo and dieback surveys are complete, organise surveys to be undertaken prior to clearing if they are not.
Compile a harvesting schedule to meet the 36-month mine plan and engage the Forest Products Commission to facilitate harvesting and assist with access requirements.
Compile a clearing schedule to meet the 36-month mine plan and rehabilitation requirements such as the sourcing of fresh topsoil.
Monitor and analyse processes post-implementation to ensure achievement of clearing targets and develop clearing operations reporting.

What you can bring to the role:
Ideally you will have experience with GIS Mapping software, or a similar program, and have exposure to contractor management.
Previous experience coordinating the design, scheduling and execution of pre-mining activities – especially around clearing and harvesting forestry works, and flora and fauna assessments – will be held in high regard.
A strong regulatory and compliance mindset would be held in high regard, as this position is responsible for weekly compliance reporting, and managing and presenting this data.

Willowdale is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia, and is located in the Darling Scarp east of Waroona and Cookernup. It supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Alumina Refinery via a direct overland conveying system and helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
