Job Description:
As the Environmental, Health and Safety Representative at BW Papersystems you would be responsible for establishing and promoting the maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace. You are tasked with recommending measures to reduce and/or eliminate accidents and illnesses while complying with all federal, state, local and company rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities/Complexities:
- Investigate incidents or accidents, triage injuries, gather and analyze statistics, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Promote and maintain good employee relations. Act as liaison between employees, identify and solve employee problems and advocate a strong employee contact with an open-door policy.
- Consult internally with all departments concerning employee assignments and absence related to injury and/or illness
- Consult with physicians and department leadership regarding availability of restricted job assignments.
- Perform monthly and/or quarterly inspections for safety concerns and facility compliance; ensure maintenance of building access controls.
- Plan, coordinate and deploy safety training initiatives.
- Recommend measures to reduce/eliminate accidents and illnesses.
- Act as a point of contact for employees with questions about safety, PPE, and/or disability.
- Partner with environmental vendors to complete annual compliance documentation.
- Participate in company led initiatives.
- Creates and delivers safety training programs educating employees on safe working practices, appropriate equipment operation, and emergency procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing, construction or similar setting
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or safety a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience implementing safety programs and training
- Experience in Microsoft Excel
- The ability to be think analytically and detect trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Highly self-motivated; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
