Senior Data Scientist: Digital Product Manager

As a key member of Amgen’s Combination Product Operation’s (CPO) Digital and Data Strategy team, you will be at the forefront of digital transformation in the biopharmaceutical industry. This team provides thought leadership and enhances capabilities for digital threads and digital twins.

The Digital Product Manager will be pivotal in driving the development, integration, and utilization of cutting-edge digital tools across enterprise systems such as PLM, ERP, ELN, and data fabrics. This role leverages advanced digital technologies, including AI and Generative AI (GenAI), to optimize the combination product lifecycle. You will lead cross-functional teams, delivering impactful digital solutions, and spearheading efforts to maintain a digital thread across testing and data analytics, ensuring seamless data integration and accessibility. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members in customer engagement and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external clients to understand business needs and workflow challenges, ensuring tailored digital solutions.

  • Facilitate Training and Support by Providing training and ongoing support to team members and internal stakeholders on the use of digital tools, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Optimize Data Utilization by enhancing the accuracy and depth of data analytics, delivering more robust and insightful analytical outcomes.

  • Maintain Digital Thread across design outputs , testing and data analytics, ensuring comprehensive data integration and accessibility throughout the combination product lifecycle.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including DTI, Quality, and vendors, to develop strategies that align with organizational goals and ensure the flawless integration of digital tools

  • Drive Agile Methodologies: Utilize and promote Agile project methodologies throughout the project lifecycle to ensure flexible, efficient, and effective project management and implementation.

  • Engage with internal and external partners to understand their challenges and requirements, customizing digital solutions to meet these specific needs.

  • Lead Data Science Initiatives driving the development and implementation of data-driven projects and innovations.

  • Execute Data Management by Implementing complex data queries to extract, clean, and manipulate data from various sources, ensuring the data is usable for detailed analysis and reporting.

  • Utilize and drive Agile project methodologies throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring flexible, efficient, and effective project management and implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and 10 years of Engineering experience OR

  • Associate's degree and 8 years of Engineering experience OR

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of Engineering experience OR

  • Master's Degree and 2 years of Engineering experience OR

  • Doctorate Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph. D. in engineering, Mechanical, Biomedical, bioengineering or Chemical

  • 2-3 years of experience in healthcare (i.e., medical device, pharma, or biotech) or regulated industry

  • Experience in Initiating, drive, and successfully deliver projects from concept to completion

  • Experience in leading the rollout of products and digital tools.

  • Strong analytical skills able to draw conclusions from data, management information and trends

  • Well versed in regulatory concepts such as GMP, GDP and GCP including CFR Part 11

  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and contribute to technical discussions and decisions.

  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical terms and develop data-driven strategies that align with organizational goals.

  • High level of competence in SQL, Python, R, or other data manipulation languages.

  • Skilled in using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar, to build impactful data visualizations that communicate complex analyses clearly.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience managing projects using Agile to ensure flexible and efficient project delivery.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and empower team members, along with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various partners.
