Lunar Permanence: This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists and engineers, you will be responsible for the structural integrity of the Fuel Cell system. You will also support designing, building, and testing a Fuel Cell system. Additionally, you will generate analysis products and providing sign off on engineering documents.

You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Permanence system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Verifies structural integrity using analytical methods and finite element model (FEM) simulations
  • Communicate analysis results to customers to inform design decisions and ensure requirement compliance
  • Analyzes test results to verify that requirements are met
  • Collaborates with design engineers to ensure sound design principles are applied for structural integrity
  • Provide sign off for engineering drawings, analysis reports, and related documents

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject areas
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant Structural analysis experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or other relevant industry
  • A strong understanding of, and ability to apply, engineering fundamentals
  • Experience performing static and fatigue analysis using both classical and FEM methodology
  • Ability to interrogate stresses and forces in FEM and determine root cause and course of action to reduce if necessary
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while demonstrating personal leadership, strong technical competence, and attention to detail
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject areas
  • Experience with Simcenter Femap, NASTRAN or other similar finite element modeling software
  • Experience developing data processing tools/templates using MATLAB, Python, or VBA
  • Procedural understanding of the random vibration (RV) analysis process from inputs to outputs
  • Ability to generate detailed breakout models with bias towards RV stress recovery
  • Experience supporting testing and correlating models with test data
  • Understanding of Aerospace standard practices, methods, and procedures
  • Familiarity with aerospace system design requirements such as thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, acoustics, electrical grounding/bonding

Compensation range for on-site CO applicants is $82,335-$109,780
