Quality Assurance Technician

PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance Technician supports the day-to-day activities on the production floor to ensure Calumet Carton Company meets all internal and external requirements of the product being produced through each phase of the manufacturing process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist coordinating the flow of quarantined product including establishing parameters for sorting/rework.
- Perform specific inspection/testing activities per documented requirements.
- Helps production determine when changes are required for items being produced and reviewed.
- Verify all appropriate procedures and/or work instructions are being followed and documentation practices are complete (process related).
- Perform random audits throughout the shift to verify product and process conformance (see 1 -4).
- Assists production in identifying additional tools and/or documentation needed to ensure product conformance.
- Filing of customer-approved proofs at appropriate stages during the production process.
- Coordinate the documentation and segregation of nonconforming product, including the forward communication to Quality and Production Management.
- Prepare and file all batch record documentation located in the job jacket retains.
- Forward Job Ticket and Shipping records to Customer Service for accounting purposes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the shipment and status tracking of color standards folders sent to the customer for approval, as required.
- Preparation of customer required production samples for distribution to appropriate parties, as required
- Perform, document, and forward First Article Inspection Reports (F.A.I.R.) results to customer, as required.
- Perform Final Inspection on outbound shipments as required. This includes the completion of product conformance documentation (i.e. COCs’), as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic knowledge of lab testing; score bend, open force, rub test, COF, edge caliper, gloss reading.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- General knowledge of computers and computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
- Printing, Converting, or Packaging industry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, SQF and GMP standards a plus
- Ability to pass color test.
- Ability to navigate and find required documentation (procedures and work instructions) and records (forms) to support product and/or process conformance activities.
- Ability to analyze issues to assist troubleshooting as needed on the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, as required.
- Able to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Starting rate is $19.00 per hour
