Design Engineer

The Design Engineer will work with the Central Maintenance team to fulfill mechanical and electrical drafting and documentation needs, drawings, concept design drawings, review and modification of existing drawings. This teammate will need the ability to work in a team setting on projects that will ensure the division reaches its goals 

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Knows, understands, and follows all safety and environmental policies, procedures and requirements.    
  • Coordinate with the engineers in the central maintenance department to achieve the team’s mission and objectives. 
  • Perform drafting and designing of models and drawings of products adhering to local, state, and national codes and standards, which include but not limited to, OSHA, ASME, ANSI, AWS, ISO, and ASCE. 
  • Demonstrate expertise on design for all mechanical systems, which includes but not limited to, piping and utilities, structural, kinematic systems, adhesive and welding protocols, manufacturing and fabrication process, thermos systems, and civil systems. 
  • Research new product ideas and methods to help improve plant systems and equipment utilizing AutoCAD mechanical FEA, Inventor Professional FEA, and SolidWorks. 
  • Record and regenerate existing product upgrades. 
  • Support engineering team to develop detailed, accurate and usable schedules and reports to provide effective management tools for execution and feedback.  
  • Input, export, and analysis of information in maintenance tracking system (SAP). 
  • Ensure compliance with industry’s safety standards. 
  • Initiate and help in promoting continuous improvement program with creative design solutions to problems throughout the plant. 
  • Document control, uploading documents, create documents numbers in SAP. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field. 
  • 2-5 years of experience in industrial environment 
  • Basics of AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor Professional, and AutoCAD Plant 3D. 
  • Able to work between Imperial and Metric in all systems noted in Tasks 
  • Have sufficient planning and organization skills. 
  • Be a reliable team member and acts as team player to create a positive work environment.  
  • Be able to handle issues confidential. 
  • Be patient and flexible to handle different cultures. 
  • Be able to work under pressure. 
  • Be able to work under local weather conditions. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)  
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing. Skills will be used to produce quality reports and thorough instructions and directions.  
  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 feet. 
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job site.   
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC-card.
