Position Overview

This passionate leader will act as a change agent for the organization moving us to a more pro-active approach to “quality” utilizing 6 Sigma principles. Key success factors will be the implementation of a continuous improvement philosophy that will impact our customers, internal processes, and supplier base. This leader must have a proven track record of successfully leading teams and projects. Six Sigma Green Belt, and or Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.

This position will have direct responsibility for all job assignments and operational budgets for the department. Outstanding leadership and listening skills will be essential along with the passion and motivation for success.

Areas of Focus

  • “Leader” and “Change Agent”

  • Lead a quality group of associates including operational/organizational multi-site responsibility

  • Drive “key quality objectives” for the organization

Responsibilities

  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.

  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives in support of corporate policies and goals.

  • Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures.

  • Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel in the organization.

  • Provides inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle.

  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.

  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.

  • Works with vendors to ensure the quality of all purchased parts for company use.

  • Plays active role on quality management teams within the organization.

  • Designs and implements quality control training programs for key personnel in conjunction with managers.

  • Investigates customer complaints regarding quality.

  • Implements maintain and ensure compliance with the quality system.

  • Ensures corrective action process is in place.

  • Maintains program for ongoing product compliance testing.

  • Follows quality system procedures.

  • Participates in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities

  • Shares responsibility with manufacturing engineering to update pFMEA and Control Plan

  • Creates and assigns 6 Sigma projects using A3 format to report progress

Basic Qualifications

  • Process Improvement – Six Sigma Green Belt required, Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred

  • ASQ – Certified Quality Engineering/Certified Quality Manager Preferred

  • A minimum of five years of related experience in high volume/ medium mix, low unit value industrial product manufacturing.

  • Management experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.

  • ISO implementation, ISO Management Rep., lead auditor, is a plus

  • Preferred experience with: Lean Principals – Waste Reduction, Finance – Operational Budgets, Cost of Quality

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Statistical Analysis, Establishing Sampling Schemes (Batch and In-process), Design of Experiments (DOE’s)

  • Knowledge of Minitab

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work without close supervision from the Director or VP of QA but with the judgment and temperament to seek review and approval when appropriate

  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Applications and Minitab

  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A minimum of five years of related experience in high volume, low unit value industrial product manufacturing

  • Management experience in manufacturing operations and possess the technical training and experience to assist in technical improvements to the process

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Proficient in English

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Understanding and able to train with help on SPC and TQM

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Relevant industry certifications and memberships are preferred

  • ESD certification is preferred

  • 6 Sigma certification, Green Belt/Black Belt is a plus

Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000/year
