Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for all activities related to the procurement of goods and materials and directing the day-to-day activities of the purchasing team. With a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management, the candidate will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations, and implementing changes.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensuring adherence to company purchasing policies, procedures and all regulatory and compliance programs.
- Defining and managing performance metrics (KPI’s) for internal team and external suppliers.
- Responsible for management and execution of supplier contracts; ensuring buyers award purchase orders based on negotiated prices.
- Driving the execution of contracts and pricing agreements as negotiated by the strategic sourcing function.
- Defining and implementing inventory strategies to achieve inventory turn targets while maintaining on-time delivery performance.
- Identifying opportunities and developing plans to achieve cost reductions.
- Responsible for material master updates and other systems maintenance within purchasing.
- Providing direction to and managing and developing direct reports.
- Responsible for performance management process, including annual review and development plans.
- Driving continuous improvement activities to maximize team performance.
- Developing standard procedures and work instructions, and training team to those standards.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and quickly; ability to manage more than one initiative at once.
- Working knowledge of MRP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in related area, or equivalent experience and training.
- Ten years’ experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management with three years in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems
- APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent training preferred.
