Overview

The Wire Mill Process Engineer will be responsible for the technical, planning, and support services for production of wire products. This position is dedicated to driving the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater safety, efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement. To accomplish these goals, collaboration with Plant personnel, COPPERWORKS Engineering Team, suppliers, and integrators on project activities will be critical. This position will require customer site visits to investigate quality problems and provide solutions. 

Responsibilities
  • Drive a World Class Safety Culture.
  • Determines the cause of operating problems that do not respond to normal established correction methods and procedures. Makes changes in procedure and equipment to prevent recurring problems in the operation of equipment.
  • Reduces maintenance cost by evaluating current processes and equipment, defining critical variables and machine capabilities, and modifying as required.
  • Maintains professional relationships with contractors and equipment and material suppliers.
  • Establishes design criteria for new equipment and current equipment enhancements, and details/reviews layout and working drawings against the design criteria. Installs and shakes down new equipment.
  • Prepares and provides performance specifications to be used in the purchase of new machines or modifications to existing equipment. Manages the project by controlling spending, reporting progress, and initiates closure of projects promptly after work is completed.
  • Develop new and maintain existing customer relationships.
  • Resolve internal and external customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Complete paperwork and other projects as required meeting deadlines.
  • Travel as needed for customer sales and support.
  • Tracks and monitors KPIs and metrics.
  • All other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Have a safety top of mind attitude
  • College degree in Engineering, Business, Production or a related field a plus
  • Working knowledge of wire drawing practice and theory
  • Desire to communicate with customers, both internal and external
  • Advanced problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a fast-paced team environment while handling multiple priorities
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and self-disciplined
  • Possess a self-starter quality for seeking input and details from resources
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks or projects to completion according to schedule
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Flexible schedule, up to 20% travel required
