POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and hands-on support in the areas of manufacturing processes and process improvements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist CNC programmers to maintain the MasterCam programming library to ensure programs are updated and linked to the associated solid models.
- Create Manufacturing Drawings using CAD software for Customer drawings that may be incomplete for manufacturing.
- Act as an intermediary between the engineering and manufacturing departments for continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with new and existing machine settings and parameters to ensure compatibility with CAD/CAM program.
- Work with the scheduling, manufacturing, and engineering departments to define and continuously update preferred methods of manufacture.
- Assist with updating methods of manufacture in ERP system.
- Input and update manufacturing-related parameters in ERP system, including machine, operation, and setup time estimates.
- Develop and review machine and part specific KPI’s to evaluate efficiency and/or potential issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Quote Non-MM product related jobs and maintain, develop, and improve quoting database
- Monitor Tooling related expenses and report monthly.
- Monitor and track shop related non-conformances and report monthly
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. A technical diploma in Machine Tool or similar course of study is strongly preferred.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of Manufacturing Engineering experience and ten (10) years of advanced machine programming and operating experience.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
- Must have advanced knowledge of CNC metal working processes.
- Must have experience with CNC programming and ability to design, simulate and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
- Must have proficient computer skills.
- Must possess good mathematical skills.
- Must be able to adjust machine speeds and feeds.
- Must be able to read and interpret prints.
- Must have ability to multi-task.
- Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
- Ability to think outside of the box and utilize reasonable deduction.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Environment: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor shop environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.
Physical: Primary functions require physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties; to infrequently climb on ladders or stairs; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe shoes and safety glasses, must be worn at all times while in the shop.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- All employees are to be indoctrinated in the QMS within sixty (60) days of hire.
