Job Posting Information – Shim Grind Operator  

A Shim Grind Operator operates shim grind machines.   

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

• Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects.
• Performs set-up procedures on the grinder machines; selects grade of grinding stone according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal.
• Loads grinding fixtures with appropriate parts and starts grinder.
• Performs necessary load checks as required.
• Dresses grinding stone as required for flatness and sharpness.
• Replaces worn grinding stones as needed.
• Adjusts grinders and performs preventative maintenance as required.
• Use and confirm proper operation of all safety devices and procedures.
• Properly complete work orders and department-related paperwork.
• Responsible for general housekeeping duties and striving toward continuous improvement.
• All other responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) Training and ability to read blueprints
