Responsible for managing the compensation function for the organization, composed of diverse administrative and operations teams. The compensation manager is a strategic role with hands on approach that plans, designs, proposes, and implements compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with the company’s goals, strategic objectives, and practices.

 

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

 

  • Designs creative and cost-effective compensation programs that establish pay grades, job families, structures and others as applicable that are internally equitable and externally competitive to attract and retain top talent. Conduct regular reviews to ensure alignment with market trends and organizational needs. 
  • Evaluate and classify positions within the organization based on factors such as job responsibilities, skills required, and market data. Ensure that job descriptions accurately reflect the duties and requirements of each position and are updated appropriately on the job description database.
  • Conducts and provides advice on job evaluations as needed, including comprehensive evaluations of FLSA and state exemptions.        
  • Establishes policies with criteria for pay raises such as market adjustments, promotion, demotion and other transfers or job changes. 
  • Design, implement, and administer incentive programs, such as bonuses, and commission, to drive performance and reward top performers. Monitor program effectiveness and make recommendations for enhancements or changes as needed.
  • Works with our business unit executive to manage and oversee the bonus plan and executive compensation. 
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to compensation. Ensure that compensation practices comply with legal requirements and internal policies.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, outliers, and areas for improvement. Generate regular reports and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders to communicate key findings and insights.
  • Communicate compensation policies, procedures, and changes effectively to employees, managers, and HR colleagues. Provide training and guidance on compensation-related matters as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Minimum Educational and Experience Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 10 years’ Experience in Compensation
  • 10 years’ Experience in Human Resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management, business administration, or related field. 
  • Possesses strong business acumen, operational skills, customer service and successful partnership with all levels of staff. 
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of human resources and compensation practices including experience in compensation program design and project management.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Possesses knowledge of applicable agencies’, federal and state regulations; filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting compensation programs.

  • Ability to be flexible, collaborative, and adaptable to a fast paced, shifting work environment.
  • Ability to be a self-starter who takes the initiative to start and complete assignments with general direction.
  • Computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), HRIS systems, strong reporting capabilities, and be able to learn new computer programs.
  • Possesses superior organizational skills; self-motivated, resourceful, and detail oriented.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
