Description

Mechanical Drafting Technician is responsible for working with the design engineers to create technical drawings and documentation of custom weld fixtures and/or machines; interacting with the design engineers to manage the release of large and small programs as well as supporting the onsite fabrication and assembly as needed.  Mechanical Drafting Technicians work in a team environment designed to help New Employees become productive quickly.


Duties

  • Create detail      drawings of weld fixtures and/or machines using Autodesk Inventor and      Autodesk Vault.
  • Help identify design      issues before release (misaligned or mismatched holes, crash conditions, etc.).
  • Prioritize tasks      to meet aggressive due dates.
  • Support      Engineering and Sales with customer documentation and spare parts      requests.
  • Troubleshoot part      and print issues in a timely manner during fabrication.
  • Support      Engineering and Sales with customer documentation and spare parts      requests.
  • Assist design engineers      with new opportunities.
  • Actively      participate in department and companywide continuous improvement      initiatives. 

Requirements

Skills and Requirements

  • Proficient with      3D CAD software. (AutoDesk Inventor and Vault is a plus)
  • Detailing
  • General Part      Creation Skills 
    • Extrusions
    • Sketching
  • Basic Microsoft      Office skills.
  • Can apply      concise and clear drafting fundamentals
  • Understands      general Mechanical Drafting principles
  • Understands      Linear and Ordinate dimensioning styles
  • Preferably ADDA      Mechanical Drafting Certified 
  • Good time      management and work prioritization skills
  • Willing to learn      new skills
  • Adaptable and      self-motivated learner.

Qualified candidates should possess at least an Associates of Science in Drafting and Design Engineering Technology, or BSME from an accredited university or college, or 5+ years’ similar mechanical design experience.
