Description
Support production to ensure proper standards and procedures are followed while reducing scrap. Inspection of incoming, in-process, and final for all jobs as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review data and revisions on job sheet, prints, and variable sheets
- Compare new and previous 1st Articles to verify data
- 1st piece inspection approval
- SPC and P-PAP customer requirements
- Communicate inspection results to customers as needed
- Create and utilize inspection programs
- Provide inspection support for outside operations
- Ability to operate all inspection equipment within the quality department
- As needed, assist with blank inspection from internal blanking and blank suppliers
- Responsible for control of calibration of inspection equipment including but not limited to micrometers and gauges
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Inspection on all other operations as needed
- Ability to cross-train others
- Must move to specific departments to complete in-process as required by workflow or absence of roaming inspector
Environmental Conditions:
- Noise intensity level exposed with this job Moderate
Qualifications
- Ability to operate vari-roll testing fixtures
- General understanding of gear cutting processes
- Basic understanding of CMM
- Ability to use optical comparator
- Ability to use Vinco Optical Dividing Machine
- Skills with calipers, micrometers, and gages
- Communication skills to train others as needed
- Basic math & geometry skills
- Basic materials knowledge
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to create tooth/space alignment layouts
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years inspection experience in gear manufacturing OR 10 years inspection experience with 1 year in gear-specific inspection

- Ability to lift/carry 40 pounds or less
