About the Role
The Business Development Manager position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and President, working with a team of other Business Development professionals. This role will have specific focus on further building existing and establishing new business specifically in the Pipe market, by working with prospective customers and helping them recognize the benefits of buying from Teel. This position will play a critical role in reaching growth objectives by supporting the reach of Teel products across a variety of markets while also recognizing other segment growth possibilities in which Teel supplies.

It will be highly important to provide consistent customer satisfaction through effective communication style in addition to knowledge of the plastics industry, particularly the infrastructure market(s) of gas, water, conduit, and cable in conduit pipe. This position may be remote or hybrid due to travel requirements and at the discretion of our Chief Commercial Officer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Sales Growth & Strategy

· Develop annual business plan in conjunction with Sales and Marketing team.

· Develop and execute sales strategies, including necessary strategic decisions to build business within target markets.

· Evaluating and improving sales, marketing, and branding strategies at trade shows or other media.

· Identifying prospects as well as new and developing markets based on Teel’s capabilities.

· Researches the market(s), studies, and understands potential customers and their needs, determines key players within potential customer organizations.

· Proactive actions to reach out and contact new potential customers and evaluating customer leads/those who contact Teel directly to determine if those contacts should be pursued, including the follow through on business pursuits.

· Performing competitor analysis, including research of organizations and individuals to identify opportunities to obtain an increased market share.

· Understanding of internal expertise to create opportunities and pursue appropriate new business.

· Working independently with top management at prospective customers, the individual in this position plays a critical role as a representative of Teel’s marketing and sales efforts.

· Monitoring revenue streams and identifying opportunities to increase profitability with existing customers via pricing strategy or cost savings.

Ongoing Customer Support

· Developing client relationships and strengthening industry partnerships.

· Develops forecasts and works with the team to assist in moving developments into production.

· Working with internal experts to understand Teel’s capabilities and potential capabilities.

· Gain strong understanding of Teel’s processes, capabilities, and manufacturing experience.

· Shares Teel’s capabilities and experiences by building a rapport and relationship with existing and potential customers.

· Develops and implements sales contracts, pricing agreements and strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Legal and Chief Commercial Officer.

· Works with the customer on AR, terms, old inventory, and quality issues that may arise.

· Understands businesses and opportunities that exist in the make vs. buy marketplace and consistently and effectively promotes Teel’s capabilities.

Business Alignment

· Negotiating and closing business agreements that promote sustained revenue.

· Participate in and support S&OP Process in addition to setting forecasts, monitoring sales shipments and communicating changes in forecasts to operation planning, engineering, and team at Teel.

· Working with the customer on forecast, planning and pricing to ensure Teel obtains POs to be able to meet customer requirements and ship dates.

· Maintaining accurate and updated history of client contacts utilizing contact management software.

· Directly contacts potential customers – Makes phone contact, travels to client facilities to meet key players, conducts interviews to understand the client and the opportunities Teel can deliver on.

· Develop and deliver presentations – Prepares and delivers professional presentations outlining the opportunity and how Teel can help, sells client on Teel’s capabilities, and helps make the “buy” decision the obvious choice.

· Sharing knowledge with marketing & sales staff – Keeps abreast of developments with other Teel customers and uses that information to create new business opportunities; shares success stories and develops with other staff members to build business with current customers; educates the marketing and sales team on developments in the marketplace that impact Teel. Understands and develops concepts with current customers that enhances Teel’s capabilities or creates new opportunities.

· Exchanges information with Product Development / Engineering. Understands Teel’s technical abilities and new developments underway and shares information on new marketplace developments.

Successful Candidates will possess:

· Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field or equivalent defined as 8+ years of specific industry experience.

· Master’s degree a plus.

· 5 or more years’ experience within the plastic processing environment

· Ability to travel extensively (20-40%) by car and other modes of transportation for customer visits, conferences, trade shows, etc.

· Proficient with Excel, Word and Power Point software.

· Experience and knowledge of the Pipe market or similar related market preferred.

· The ability to organize large amounts of information into focused priorities.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze new opportunities quickly and identify how they fit with Teel’s capabilities.

· Ability to assess and understand organizations and their internal decision-making structure to determine how best to succeed in creating a new business opportunity.

· The ability to think and act quickly and interact with senior management personnel in many different organizations and cultures.
