CARD TECHNICIAN

  • Oversee and direct all employees assigned to the Carding Department with the purpose of assuring quality and safety while maximizing production.
  • Responsible for all maintenance activities of Carding Department equipment including but not limited to cleaning, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment repairs, and installations to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate employee training to ensure quality and production standards are achieved.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Carding Department equipment to minimize production interruptions.
  • Assist the shift Supervisor in evaluating the performance of the Carding Department.
  • Coordinate training of employees to ensure quality and production standards are achieved.
  • Provide technical guidance to Plant Management related to Carding Department.
  • Perform analysis of equipment to solve problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all shift-required documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Works with all shift personnel to ensure that individuals are adhering to Company's Carding specifications and policies.
  • Work with all shifts to minimize waste.
  • Develop and delivery of consistent SOP's to ensure proper maintenance and utilization of carding equipment.
  • Participate in meetings to solve problems and facilitate communication.
  • Special projects as assigned

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum three years maintenance department experience.

EDUCATION

  • High school graduate or GED required
SKILLS
  • Fast paced work environment. Must be able to multi-task
  • Visually inspects parts; adequate hearing
  • Dexterity for handling small parts and tools in tight spaces
  • Sufficient strength for handling larger parts and tools
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching above/at/below shoulder, standing, stooping, crouching, bending, walking, crawling, kneeling, carrying, and lifting 10-100 lbs.
  • Able to work utilizing safety glasses, steel-toed work shoes, uniform and hearing protection
  • Able to climb steps and ladders
  • Subjected to loud noises, vibrations, hardworking surfaces, lubricants and chemicals, fumes, dirt and inherent hazards of mechanic work

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced knowledge of Carding Machine Operation and the ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment in highly complex situations.
  • Able to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Capable of extended hours and being on call.
  • Basic computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and safety requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially of information
