NORPAC is looking for a Safety Manager to join our team, to provide strategic direction and oversight for the mills safety program in order to accomplish NORPAC’s business goals and objectives in all areas: Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Process Reliability, Costs, and other defined business needs.

 

Qualifications


Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for OSHA, L&I regulation review, development and compliance
  • Provide a lead role in the development, implementation and management of safety strategies and goals for mill
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations
  • Works collaboratively across the organization at all levels to mentor, coach, guide and model best safety practices. Reinforce world class safety culture development processes
  • Plans, implements, and ensures delivery of preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs
  • Provide technical safety support as needed
  • Ensure timely and accuracy of all required reporting including but not limited to OSHA annual reporting
  • Lead annual Review, editing, management, and optimizing of all safety policies and programs
  • Lead, train, and manage incident investigations, including corrective and preventative action follow-up.
  • Review and analyze safety data and statistics, while effectively communicating out reports and trends to all levels of the organization
  • Model, support and drive our actively caring safety culture
  • Security tasks
  • Assist with claim management and return to work process
  • Ability to lead consistent with the NORPAC leadership model
  • Other duties as assigned and identified

 

Required Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • BS/BA degree safety management, environmental safety, industrial hygiene or related field and/or equivalent education/experience
  • Three or more years of Safety Management related work experience
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment
  • Safety experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines
  • Highly safety conscious with the ability to lead and influence improvements
  • Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Able to effectively work across disciplines to achieve business objectives
  • Detail oriented and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team-based and change management skills
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Able to thrive in an autonomous, empowered, self-driven, and rapidly evolving and improving work environment
  • Knowledge of software programs including but not limit to safety management software, Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

 

Desirable:

  • Three or more years of safety management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferability in pulp and paper
  • ASP or CSP certifications preferred
  • AFPA and PPSA participation experience
  • Masters degree in safety, business, environmental sciences, and/or related field of study

 

Compensation:

Annual salary range for this position $85,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.
