Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Sales Manager who will be responsible for the overall sales gross margin and selling expense results of their sales team. Be able to determine objectives, develop plans with divisional guidance and allocation of resources to achieve the necessary objectives.  Organize the sales personnel, determine and allocate authority through delegation of responsibilities to subordinates.  Develop and utilize control necessary for achieving objectives within the framework of the organization's policies.  Strive to increase order size and gross margin percentages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for day-to-day leadership of the sales team and all decisions and actions of personnel under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Create methods and tools to develop sales team on a personal and professional basis.  Facilitate managing the career paths of sales team.
  • Communicate all policies to sales team and ensure their implementation.
  • Direct and motivate all sales team members in the proper direction through communication and delegation.
  • Ensure business activity and development is managed through company required software programs.
  • Ensure company-sponsored tools for time and territory management are being used appropriately.
  • Build rapport and relationships with key customers.
  • Be actively involved in community and business organizations.
  • Work extensively with sales personnel in the field calling on customers.  May be responsible for assigned accounts.
  • Select, train, direct and motivate employees; appraise performance and create development plans, recommend salary and account actions for subordinates to assure a stable and competent organization.
  • Organize the selling function so that it is performed in the most effective manner to maintain current business and realize new business opportunities.
  • Responsible for all staffing decisions with superior’s approval required on new growth positions.
  • Carry out the management of sales efforts with target accounts within the division/unit.
  • Responsible for creating a business plan to sustain existing business, develop new business and increase order size and gross margin percentages in the marketplaces.
  • Establish objectives for sales team on promotions and major new products.
  •  Responsible for ensuring the market is receiving proper sales coverage through time and territory management of sales personnel through recommending account assignment and rotation.
  • Assists with planning special events such as trade shows, banquets, and seminars.
  • Responsible for obtaining sales, order size, and gross profit goals.
  • Measure performance and progress of sales team on a continuous basis and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensure that all sales personnel follow accounting, data processing, shipping, receiving, purchasing and sales procedures and policies.
  • Maintain quotes and essential sales data to manage pricing for profitability and market penetration.
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience specifically in high volume development of new business.
  • 2-3 years of experience in sales supervision or sales training.
  • Previous Sales and Management experience preferably in a distribution environment.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills utilizing Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills utilizing Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated/effective organizational skills, conflict management skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers and corporate & division personnel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
